    Job Hunting Tips: Staying Active
Unemployment is depressing: financial pressures stress you out, looking for work is humiliating, and your fragile self-confidence reels under the blows of indifference and rejection. It becomes harder to get up in the morning, to take care of yourself, to be supportive and loving to those around you, to swing energetically into job search activities. Here are 7 tips on beating those I-want-to-get-a-job-but-nobody-wants-me blues.1. Create a schedule for your week: 5 hours per day (maximum) of looking for work, 2 hours per day (minimum) of relaxing, having fun with others, and appreciating yourself.2. Act as if you are still working: get up at your usual time, shower, have your regular breakfast - it will maintain your sense of sense and provide the familiarity of routine and structure in a world in which you are feeling increasingly alienated.3. Get out of the house. Employers don't make house calls so circulate. Surfing the net for job leads may make you feel as if you are accomplishing somethin

This was called “increasing keyword density” and this worked for a short time until the SE’s got smarter. When they learned to look at the background color and the font color for these 300 keywords, the SE’s started penalizing those website for cheating. The interaction between the black hat SEO’s and
    The Age of Internet Marketing
The introduction of online businesses has expanded the global marketplace and increased business competition. With the rapid expansion of the Internet community, many business owners have a peaked interest in Internet marketing. Over the last five years it has become one of the most sought after marketing and advertising methods. As interest and trial have increased, business owners are seeing its importance and practicing online marketing to further industry growth. There are two business models that any online marketing campaign will follow. The first is business-to-customer (B2C). The goal is to convert shoppers into buyers. When marketing online most B2C campaigns are short in nature, grab the customer’s interest, and provide discounts or specials to lead the customer to a website. Email marketing is a great tool to peak B2C interest. They can download coupons, enter promotion codes online, and most importantly get product information immediately. The second type of model is business-to-business (B2B). It works
To start this article, let’s make certain that everyone knows what a search engine (SE) is. This is a website that will accept an input word or phrase and search a database to give you information that matches the input information that you supplied to it. The best known SE’s are Google and Yahoo.

There are many definitions for SEO so we will try to boil them down into a simple one. The condensed definition of SEO is -- the action of using techniques to make your page(s) appeal to search engines so they will rank the page high in the search engine results pages (SERP). For additional definitions, run a Google search to get plenty of reading on the subject.

Why be concerned about the SERP ranking? This is what produces the free traffic to your site. These people found you all by themselves using the SE and they arrive at your site open to read what you have to present. They are not suspicious as they would be if they arrived at your site by clicking on a banner ad or on a Google Adwords or Adsense ad. This traffic is the life blood of your business. Readers who arrive at your site by a search engine are much easier to sell than those who come from pay per click or banner ads.

SEO has created the profession of search engine optimizer. This profession breaks down into two groups called the white hats and the black hats. (From the old western movies where the good guys wore white hats and the bad guys wore black hats).

The white hats work to create good, solid content that the SE’s are looking for. Their form of optimization is presenting the good, solid material in a format which appeals to the SE.

The black hats try to trick the SE into thinking that a site has valuable information on it by various methods and tricks.

When search engines (SE’s) first came on the scene, they were not very sophisticated and people on the Net found ways to easily trick them into giving a page a higher ranking on the SERP than the page deserved.

An early black hat trick was to fill in all the white space on the page with the page keyword in white font color (white letters on a white background). If the page was viewed on the screen, it looked normal with five or six keyword occurrences, but if you looked at the HTML, you would see the keyword on the page say 300 times. This was called “increasing keyword density” and this worked for a short time until the SE’s got smarter. When they learned to look at the background color and the font color for these 300 keywords, the SE’s started penalizing those website for cheating. The interaction between the black hat SEO’s and

    Why You Need a Newsletter
If you’re a small business owner you definitely need promotion. And, if you’re a freelancer—you ARE the product—so you’ll ultimately need self-promotion. Newsletters can not only inform your customers of future events, discounts, and services, but can serve as a helpful source of information for you to analyze the growth and success of your business.Newsletters can be published and distributed according to individual business needs (weekly, bimonthly, quarterly, and annually, etc.). Printing costs can be kept to a minimum with black & white printing; or if your budget is a bit more expendable, capture your reader’s attention with a vibrant-colored logo, text and graphics. Whether you use b&w or color printing, adding a newsletter into your budget keeps and attracts new clients! Let’s see the different types of newsletters and discover which best suits your needs. Newsletters can range from In the Office (ITO) Newsletters to Out of the Office (OOTO) Newsletters. More importantly, each one serves its own separate purpose

Work on Your Business, not in Your Business
Restaurateurs fail to get past one store because of one reason. Restaurateurs fail to make boatloads of money because of one reason. The one reason...they are too busy working in their business, not on it. How can you possibly expect to have time to manage the store when you are running it? You’re bussing tables, working the bar, helping out in the kitchen. You’re running food, cashing out servers, making schedule changes, covering shifts and dealing with the phone. You’re making table visits; you’re even running an ad in the local paper. But you know what? It’s not enough. The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result. If you spend everyday working in the business, it will not change. Trust me.Stephen Covey in Seven Habits of Highly Effective People brilliantly explained the difference between Leadership and Management. It goes something like this….Imagine yourself in the fore

Finding a Job Under Tough Circumstances
Anyone can find a job. That’s right, I said “anyone”. And I meant it. But the caveat is: I didn’t say what kind of job. You can go out and start flipping burgers, and whine about the tough breaks life handed you when your company down-sized, or you can reach higher, and go for that job you really want, and know you have the experience and enthusiasm for.Reaching higher means being on your toes, in every sense of the words. You’ll have to stretch yourself too- make that extra effort to overcome the obstacles in your way. Nobody said getting the right job would be easy. But it’s there, waiting, if you’re willing to reach. To show you what we mean, I’m going to give you an example of one executive’s ego-crushing layoff. Down but not out, this man took personal circumstances that could have held him back, and built on them so that he stood on a solid foundation and put that perfect job within his reach.Sean Davidson* was a senior level marketing manager. His company was downsizing, and in a performance review

    The Basics Of E-mails
It's a great tool to be in touch and to widen your business. However be wary of the fine line between spamming and being persistent when sending mails.Spamming is frowned upon in most countries. If it is found by your e-mail account provider that you are guilty of this sacrilege, your account could be suspended and your outgoing e-mails could be blocked out by the the recipient's mail server, making your efforts futile.Tip No matter how rude someone may be to you, or how offended may be by another's opinion, don't lower yourself to their level by stooping to obsceneties, threats or claims of self-importance. Always state your opinion clearly and concisely, without personalising an issue or resorting to name-calling.A good definition of spamming would be-the use of any electronic communication medium to send unsolicited messages in bulk. But the term 'spam' means any commercially-oriented, unsolicited bulk mailing that is excessive in nature, and more importantly, undesired. To the popular pe

The interaction between the black hat SEO’s and the search engines has developed into a “cat and mouse” game and is still on going.

Google has some of the best minds on the Net working for it and those minds are constantly working to stay ahead of the “black hats”.

It is not uncommon for a “black hat” page to be ranked well in the SERP’s one day and gone the next. This is because Google has changed its algorithm for what it considers relevant on the page. The black hat tricks that worked yesterday were discovered and the page is gone from Google or ranked so far back in the SERP that it is “dead meat”. Google has a goal to rank pages with outstanding, relevant content high on the SERP. If you create that outstanding, relevant content and develop traffic, your page will rise in the SERP rank. You are not trying to fool Google, you are building what Google wants.

I learned this information from using Site Build It (SBI) since it guides you through this part of building your page. Each time you create a page, you first preview it to see that it meets your visual requirements. Then you submit it to “Analyze It” a program that evaluates the page. Once it has completed its evaluation, it tells you what it detected that needs to be changed to make the page more acceptable to search engine spiders.

Make the changes to the page and resubmit to “Analyze It” until it gives you a report with no more suggestions. At that point, you preview the page to make certain your changes have not affected the visual presentation and it is ready to publish.

The following are a few guidelines what I learned from building retirement jobs online.com on Site Build It. If you follow these guidelines, you will build a page that is structured the way the SE’s like.

    1. The web page file name should contain the primary keyword. For retirement jobs online.com this would be “retirement-jobs-online.com/keyword.html.
    2. The page title should contain the primary keyword. This is the Title tag in the HTML code.
    3. The page description should contain the prima
