    Medical Billing - GX0 Record Fields 20 Through 23
If you've been following our medical billing series on oxygen billing and the electronic transmission of claims using NSF 3.01 specifications, you probably have been thinking, at least to this point, that this GX0 record isn't too bad. Well, that's all about to change as we start getting into the more complex fields of this record with this installment. We pick up our review of the GX0 record with field number 20, which is going to take a little bit of explaining in order to make it perfectly clear.GX0 field 20, position 146, is the inpatient/outpatient indicator. Most people who have been involved with sales & marketing for any length of time have heard the axiom, “Sell them what they want. Then sell them what they need”. But what does it mean? It sounds a little odd doesn’t it?

Does it mean that people are frivolous & go around making irrational purchases that don’t meet their needs, before more serious ones that sustain them? Should you try to sell trivial goods first, & then follow up with those that are more substantial? Should you put games & entertainment on your home page, and flour & salt in your follow up messages?

    No, that’s not it.

What it is trying to say is that people buy for emotional reasons. Does anybody buy a Mercedes Benz just because they NEED to get from point A to point B? Do they buy it because they NEED all of the amazing gizmos, the heated leather seats & hand polished wood trim?

No, a person buys an expensive car that they don’t need because it makes them feel important. You may be shocked when I say this, but I’m going to say it anyway. Luxury purchases are motivated by vanity, envy, pride, jealousy, & narcissism, even greed. And, there is nothing sinister, or wrong with it. That’s just the way we are as

Business Drive is Par for the Course
I was watching the feature film A Gentleman’s Game on cable. It’s a great movie, but it was on the Golf Channel, so I had to put up with long commercial breaks . . . and I mean long commercial breaks. I wanted to watch the movie, not the commercial breaks. But, if you’ve got to watch something you don’t want to see, you may as well learn something from it.There were three hosts that made comments about the movie during the breaks. There were five theater seats in each of the two rows on the set. Two of the hosts sat in the front row with three empty seats between them and the third h

    Designing Your Postcard Appropriately
Postcards generally have limited space available for both the copy and the lay-out. It may seem very easy to design a postcard because of the small space that you need to fill up. But this is not always the case.Because the size of the postcard restricts you to put all the graphics and details that you want to include, it may be difficult (for some) to find the appropriate image and the correct words to maximize the small space available for you.Postcards typically have to be very concise, clear and direct in what it wants to convey. There is, literally, a small amount of spac

    Advertisement in North America
Advertisement is the main tool to sell the product. In North America television commercials play a great role in the purchasing decisions consumers make. Advertisement encourages consumerism and materialism. It is used to distract consumers from rational thinking and to make choices that would comfort their physical selves. One of the most influential aspects of business is marketing.North American television commercials are very influential in North American society. Understanding how they motivate buying behavior is critical to selling.

Look at this ad for the Wall Street Journal. It’s said to be one of the most successful advertisements in the history of the world, responsible for over $1 billion in sales.

Look carefully, & see how skillfully it evokes one or more of these powerful emotions. Try to get a sense of how you feel when you read it. ------------------------------------------------------

THE WALL STREET JOURNAL "TWO YOUNG MEN" LETTER

On a beautiful late spring afternoon, twenty-five years ago, two young men graduated from the same college. They were very much alike, these two young men. Both had been better than average students, both were personable, and both – as young college graduates are - were filled with ambitious dreams for the future.

    Recently, these men
