Emergence and Significance of of Product Placement and Branded Entertainment
For those thinking that subliminal forms of communicating is dead, think again. It’s alive and doing well - may be not overtly, but in surreptitious ways in the form of product placements and branded entertainment. Even a casual look at today’s film or television content amply shows an array of product placements some very subtle and others clearly overstepping the line separating advertising and factual media content in order to sell products, ideas and services. Why is it subliminal? Because…our brain filters that normally weed out overt advertising messages from media programming, don’t step in to block these covertly placed product placements and their built-in meanings and messages. It simply registers into the consumer’s subconscious. Both television and films are rife with examples. Anyone miss out on the Coca Cola tumbler on the judges tables on the American Idol television show? I don’t think so. The new James Bond film CasinoRoyale, packs more than its fair share of product placements from automobiles (Ford) to branded airlines (Virgin Airways). It’s even more interesting how the concept of produ

Can You Fire a Customer When you Work for Someone Else?
**** Have you ever been abused by a customer? Does your company have a policy clearly outlining how to handle the situation so you don't end up a punching bag? Discover a mind, body and spirit solution to managing this situation and maintaining your self-esteem. ****My customer service etiquette was tested this week. I was given the details of a man who wanted to speak to “someone in charge”. Unfortunately, the call centre representative passing on the message wasn't sure what it was about, only that he wanted to talk to someone about an email he received. When I called the customer he asked me if I had read the email. Of course, I had to clarify which of the thousands of emails sent to and from our company each day he was referring to and he identified a recent piece of marketing correspondence.Once I had it front of me, he demanded, “Well, can you see a problem with it?” When I said "No" he huffed and referred me to a sentence that had the words "employee's time". He confidently advised me that there shouldn't be an apostrophe.Initially I was dumbstruck that somebody would waste their
We've heard that the money is in the list and that having a mailing list is the best way to earn a living online. People with list's estimate that each person that they have on there is worth $1 per month. So say you have a list of 5,000 people that is $5,000 a month!

Well imagine if you have multiple lists. The problem that some people have with their list is they don't know how often to e-mail their list products to buy. They don't want to e-mail their list products to buy too much because they don't want to drive their

    Using Your Logo
After you fall in love with a logo design and before you invest hundreds of dollars putting it on stationary, t-shirts, trucks, signage, pens and coffee mugs, make sure the logo will look good in those applications.A simple logo with only one or two colors will look good in nearly all applications, but logos with complex illustrations and four or more colors will probably look like an unrecognizable blob when they are shrunk down and put on pens and embroidered on Polo shirts. They will most likely need major revisions to work in small applications. To avoid having to make revisions after you have chosen a final logo design, make sure it will work for all your applications before making a final decision. If you're not sure, the logo designers or experts you're working with will probably be able to tell you what will and will not work.Logoworks is now offering design tips, news and suggestions for the convience of designers and our vistors. These tips will be available for syndication as a RSS feed for those that would like to post these tips on their site.LogoWorks

Notes for Newbies - Part Sixteen - Building Your Website
Today we want to talk about how you build your website and upload it to your host. (I’m sure you realize we can’t cover every detail of the process in these articles. My goal is just to get you started. To make it all work, you will need to get help from your local FE college or your techie as we have discussed in earlier articles. This is just an outline.)Building your websiteTo build a website you need some software called either a ‘webpage builder’ or an ‘HTML editor’ (these both mean the same thing). There are three types:The simplest and hardest to use requires you to write everything directly in HTML. I would forget about this one for now (if you’re interested, you can actually build your entire webpage using just Windows Notepad. You’re not really interested, are you?). The one in the middle allows you to enter text and format it – more or less the way you do when working in Microsoft Word. You can also add images, format background colours and borders. These are sometimes referred to as ‘WYSIWYG’ – pronounced ‘wizzywig’ -editors (what

    What is MICR Check Printing
Here's a concise guide to MICR and associated technologies.Magnetic Ink Character Recognition (MICR) was developed to utilize the benefits of computer technology in the banking industry. Prior to the use of a MICR line, check sorting by account number was a manual process. Two systems were previously used to handle the large numbers of checks processed in the banking industry: Sort-A-Matic and Top Tab Key Sort. The Sort-A-Matic system included 100 metal or leather dividers numbered 00 through 99. Each check was placed in the corresponding divider by the first two numbers of the account. The sorting process was then repeated for the next two digits of the account number, and so on. When the process was complete, the checks were grouped by account number.Under the Top Tab Key Sort system, small holes punched at the top of the checks indicated the digits. For instance, the first hole indicated the value of the first digits (0, 1, 2, 3...) A metal "key" was inserted through the holes to separate all of the checks with the same value in the first digit, and this step was repeated for each digit unt

Add Clickbank Products to your Site or Blog via RSS for Free!
If you’ve been marketing products on the web, you should know all about ClickBank. One of biggest complaints I get about ClickBank is their lack of tools for the affiliate marketers who promote via their own websites or blogs. As a result, a few entrepreneurs have developed cgi platforms that build you a “ClickBank Mall”. For the most part, these are good solutions, but it comes with an out of pocket expense to you. Another problem I see with the ClickBank Mall solutions is that they are a complete solution. In other words, the site is built from a generic template. This is not a good solution for those of us who want to incorporate ClickBank products into our own designs. One FREE solution to this is by harnessing an RSS feed generated by Ambatch. Their CB RSS Feeds generator allows you to create specific product listings that can been added to your existing websites. In order to get started, you obviously need a Clickbank account. Register HereYou will also need to sign up with Ambatch.
