Reach vs. Frequency: Touch 100 Once or 25 Four Times?
Reach and frequency are terms generally used when planning advertising campaigns. However, the concept of reach and frequency applies to any promotional activity you undertake: direct mail, direct selling, and even networking.Reach is the number of people you touch with your marketing message or the number of people that are exposed to your message. Frequency is the number of times you touch each person with your message. In a world of unlimited resources you would obviously maximize both reach and frequency. However, since most of us live in the world of limited resources we must often make

Thank-You Notes: An Integral Part of Your Career Design
There is one little practice that is vital to generating the interest of potential employers. It is critical, but very few job seekers actually do it.What is it? The THANK YOU NOTE!Interview experts agree that EVERY job hunter MUST send thank-you notes after EVERY interview. They also point out that most people completely ignore this bit of wisdom. In order to have a huge advantage over the other candidates for the job you want, send thank-you notes to EVERYONE you meet the day of the interview--administrative assistants, managers, interviewers, people you met who already do the job y
Small business marketers love the chase. Love the new fangled way to make the phone ring. They love to think of a marketing promotion as a single event. But it’s precisely this view of marketing that holds most small businesses back. They fall prey to the “marketing idea of the week” and never fully explore what it takes to create and build a completely functioning, consistently performing, marketing system.

In this article I am going to outline the basic steps that any business can follow on the way to creating their very own marketing system. But first let’s explore this word system in the context of marketing. Small business owners have no problem thinking systems when it comes to say, accounting or hiring. When it comes to marketing though, all bets are off. It’s as if they are waiting for magic fairy dust to fall upon them with the next great marketing innovation.

Customize a Value Chain for Your Consumer
If Value Chain analysis is so important, then why is it so few companies truly try to employ it in their day-to-day work?Of course, there are a variety of reasons, but one reason may be the very general nature of the Value Chain charts that Porter uses. To be valuable across a wide variety of industries, Porter constructed a diagram of his Value Chain that is very flexible. There are five “primary activities” and four “support activities”. This broad view of the elements of a Value Chain allows many different industries to use the Value Chain tool to determine where they do, indeed, add value f

    Keyword Seection For Search Engines
We all know by now that Search Engines are the key to driving potential customers to your websites. However, in order for visitors to reach your website, you need to provide them with explicit and useful pointers that will direct them right to your site. You do this by creating lists of carefully chosen keywords.Find the right words or phrases, and hoards of traffic will be pulling up to your front door. But if your keywords are too general or over-used, the possibility of visitors making it to your site - or of seeing any real profits from the visitors that do arrive - are reduced drastically.<

Web 2.0 - Using Graphics and Blogs To Increase Sales
Web 2.0 is taking over the internet these days. You may have heard of this term before. The exact meaning of this phrase may be describing the new standard of graphics, the way people use the internet (more interactivity like myspace), or it could just be some kind of catch phrase to try and get people to buy more interesting products. In any case, you have probably noticed that more and more people have switched to faster connections with even faster computers. This means that webmasters have the freedom to increase the loading times on their pages with fancier graphics. These graphics are more dy

    Abolish Overwhelm Using Checklists!
A checklist is a valuable time management tool when used to organize projects or tasks. It allows you to take the guess work out of what is needed to complete a task which then allows you to save time & eliminate the dreaded statement, “Oh, I forgot!”A checklist, when used consistently, streamlines your action “to-do” list immediately and it can also be used as a resource when work is delegated to an employee or virtual assistant. For example, a salesperson is completing cold calls for a new service or product; her checklist may look something like this:New Service / Product Cold Cal

Look, effective marketing is little more than creating and operating an effective marketing system. Now, when I use the word system I mean several things. 1) The system is documented – You can’t have a system or a step in a system unless you write it down. 2) The system is built on sound marketing principals and 3) You constantly measure, innovate, and refine the system.

Okay, so on to the system building steps.

    1) Narrow and define a target market – Small business owners love to say yes. “Sure we can do that.” The next thing you know the target market is roughly anyone they think will pay them. You must commit to a narrowly defined target market and you must focus all of your attention upon serving that market like no one ever dreamed of. A narrow marketing focus might be – Estate Attorneys - as opposed to Law Firms.

    2) Discover and communicate a core message for that market – Unt
