What is a Certified Public Accountant or CPA?
In some states, people can work as an accountant even if they have no formal education or experience whatsoever. In order to impose standards of quality and respectability upon the accounting industry, the idea of a CPA was born.A CPA is someone who has earned a board-certified accounting license that guarantees that he or she has at least the entry-level skills required to be a good accountant. If an accountant acts in an incompetent or unethical way, his or her CPA license can be revoked. Furthermore, a CPA is required to receive continuing education in the accounting field, to ensure that he or she stays up to date with

    Material Handling Equipment Guide 101
With the growing economy the Material Handling industry is also expecting a boom. As an industry, Material Handling involves various stages like planning, organizing, application, etc. It revolves around the acts of loading, unloading and moving goods within a factory using mechanical devices that are called Material Handling Equipments.Material handling equipment means equipment, including its supporting structures, auxiliary equipment and rigging devices, used to transport, lift, move or position persons, materials, goods or things. It also includes mobile equipment used to lift, hoist or position persons, but does not in
Is staff turnover driving you bonkers? Do you feel you are losing money and market share? Do you contribute this to the absence of loyalty and dedication among your staff? Would you rather have a "team" and not ever worry about absences or staff turnover again?

If you have asked yourself these questions over and over again, I have very comforting news for you. You can have a dream team. Like all relationships, it takes time to build a team but it can be done and much easier than you think.

You must brace yourself for what is about to be shared with you. Remember, you are being given help and not raked over the coals. What is common knowledge about most highly educated professionals is, they have academic know-how and special gifts and talents as it relates to their training. What is lacking are leadership and management skills. The flow of leadership and management is vertical. It begins at the top and flows to a receptive team. The team is receptive because they are intimately aware of several things in the decision-making process: The best interest of the company, the customers/clients or patient’s and their best interest have all being considered.

Your staffing woes are due vastly in part to lack of strong management. From here forward, I’ll use management and leadership, interchangeably. Management is not entirely relegated to a person. This comes as a surprise to you, does it not? Do not think this means you can layoff your Office Manager or Department Managers in the near future. You will need them, along with your team, to turn things around. How will this be done? You are wondering. It is accomplished through “systems."Well, what are systems? You ask. American Heritage Dictionary cited nine definitions of which three were more closely related for our purpose. System is defined as:

    Empowering Customer Service Vital
It never fails to amaze me how many companies have employees who are empowered to offer former customers wonderful incentives to lure them back, yet their customer service representatives have the ability to offer virtually nothing to convince an unhappy customer to stay.Powerless, these CSRs often actually ignore customers’ requests and declarations of their intent to leave, even encouraging them to seek out another company! They often repeat the few phrases they’re allowed to say over and over again, further infuriating the customers.I recently interviewed the CEO of a mattress company who tol

Inventory Management - One Size Does Not Fit All
If there is one great myth in inventory management it is that one single technique will solve all inventory problems. Not that people believe that one technique will solve all problems in all situations but that in any given company one approach is all that is required to manage all inventory. For the inventory manager this is very attractive as it means that there is only one approach to manage. For the software vendor, consultant or advisor it means only one solution to sell. There is a wide range of techniques and approaches that people use to manage inventory. These include JIT, MRP, DRP, SCM, Risk Management, safe

    True False Test Of Recruiting
There are many misnomers and falsehoods about the business of recruiting. This quiz is to test your knowledge of the industry and its day to day operations. Watch out! There may be something here you did not know.1) A good recruiter treats a retained and contingency search the same? False! On a retained search, a recruiter will find the best 3 candidates for their client and hold those candidates specifically for that search. The recruiter will also dedicate project coordinators to the effort, getting the best possible person for the position. On a contingency basis, a recruiter is and should be free to send the cand

    Raise Your Fees Overnight!
Do you want to make more money?Yes, I guess that is a rhetorical question. Everybody wants to make more money, but oftentimes we are not willing to do what needs to be done in order to make it.For example, I’m not willing to work an 80-hour per week job to double my income. I have a husband and a 1 ? year old son - I want to spend time with them. I want to take vacations and visit my parents on the weekends and host dinner parties for my friends.I am not willing to swindle little old ladies to make more money, nor am I willing to lie, steal, or be otherwise dishonest. I am not willing to work for a boss th

I especially like definition #2. One would expect organization and coordination but in building a dream team, there must be harmonious, orderly interaction. The organized set of interrelated ideas begins with the company’s mission, vision, and goals. What follows are job descriptions and functions. Systems are written to cover procedural day-to-day tasks and are in place to take care of hypothetical events not expected to occur, or emergencies. We know Murphy’s Law and what it states.

Systems also include scripting. There is no fear of having a team of robots but uniformity and an organized set of interrelated ideas. Everyone on the team must say the same things to help establish the company as one of excellence. As a consumer or patient, there is little less frustrating than being told several different answers to the same question; and finally being told the truth: “I’m sorry Ma’am, I don’t know." Systems that include scripting put everyone at the same skill-level. No one knows any more than the other because everyone knows everything pertaining to the operation of his or her company. In Dentistry, this would differ between the business staff and clinical staff but if you implement cross training of the team in the system, the same applies to you.

Can you see how your frustrations and staffing woes become practically nonexistent? One staff member is no more valuable than the other. The “show doesn’t stop" because one person is threatening to leave. When a new team member comes aboard, teach the systems. This eliminates bad habits; actually it corrects them because the systems are a guide. The system can be at fault instead of a manager. The system promotes self-motivation because the procedures are in place against which each team member can measure their performance. Performance evaluations are no longer about tardiness, absenteeism or negative attitudes but about ways to improve. Why? The systems will not work indefinitely. They improve as growth takes place. Yes, growth! Have I just gotten your attention? Systems provide yet another tremendous benefit for y
