    Think It's Crazy?
Think many of our jobs can't be replaced by technology? Think again. Automated payment systems, drive-thru menuboard enhancements, and POS systems with the ability to customize and up-sell have already replaced (and in most cases enhanced) some cashier functions and provide a better guest experience. If your cashiers and drive-thru personnel simply go through a series of steps to take orders, they soon might be obsolete. However, if you are training (and the employees are delivering) ‘hospitality,' guests won't allow those functions to go away. Guests today are demanding and like to be in control. If your cashiers or drive-thru attendants are simply spouting robotic, scripted phrases and pushing buttons on a register, ma

Your Choice in Call Center Software Solutions
Call centers of many sizes offer a wide variety of support to various types of organizations. Professionals in education, healthcare, the legal field, and global business in addition to not-for-profit organizations, community and government agencies all benefit from contracting with call centers to assist them with their daily business telephone calls.Call centers design specialty software that is customizable for a client company’s sales, marketing or any other telecommunications application. One of the first steps that a call center takes when contracted for a job is to ask their client a series of specific questions that will assist the call center in tailoring their software solution to meet the client

    The Small Business Owner

These people tend to be involved in every aspect of their business from being the bookkeeper, marketer, human resources manager, mediator, customer liaison officer and cleaner.

The smaller the business the harder it is for the owner to delegate these functions because they dislike spending any money and, in fairness, the dollars can be much tighter. However, many fail to realize that if they invest their dollars wisely in accessing the right type of goods and services to grow their business and be more effective, they will see positive changes occur over time. They can become more productive and profitable. It takes time to build a good "business mindset" and to be an effective leader.

    The Manager

Many of the managers I have coached suffer from similar challenges as the small business owner. The key difference of course is that the business owner is responsible for his business and cannot escape that responsibility. If the business is profitable or non-profitable it will impact on that person personally, particularly financially.

Merchandise Tags to Create a Buying Environment
Merchandising tags or price tags though small in size play a crucial role in imparting significant information regarding the price of the item to the consumer apart from other things. Good quality and well designed merchandise tags create a positive impression in the mind of the user about the product. Merchandise tags also help the manufacturers and retailers to track their inventory. The design of the merchandising tags must depend on the item it needs to be attached to. For example, merchandise tags for ladies product must use nice feminine colors while those for children item must use bright, vibrant colors. Also a merchandise tag for a product meant for old people must use a large text font so that it is easily readable b

Open For Business? Regular Business Hours Should Be Regular Business Hours
A few weeks ago I visited my favorite restaurant. The sign on the door noted regular business hours of 11 am to 8 pm. It was 7:30. The restaurant was closed. If the sign says you're open for business then you should be open for business.Today I found out that this favorite restaurant of mine is closed for good. The restaurant that I speak of made gourmet sausages. It truly was amazing. Best sausages I've ever had.I was their best customer. I got to know the shopkeeper very well as I was in there quite often. The shopkeeper always told me that the restaurant wouldn't be able to survive much longer. He always had a different theory as to why business was bad. The main theory was that the location was bad but

Employee Time Clocks - Enter The Modern World
For decades, businesses and factories monitored the working hours of their employees using time clocks. A particular favorite was the punch card system, where the employee had to insert their card into the time clock, so their hours could be stamped on the card. The payroll officer would then collect these cards each week and pay the employees accordingly. It's a simple system, but unfortunately it's also very easy to cheat. Joe Bloggs is a bit late today? That's okay, John Doe can pop his card in the time clock and nobody will know the difference. Most companies have severe penalties in place for employees found faking time clock information, particularly clocking on or off for other employees, but the chances of d

    Managing Document Revisions using Subversion
Have you ever wanted to tear your hair out over revisions to a complex document or proposal? We recently worked with a team responding to an RFP (request for proposal) from a large state agency. The RFP itself was nearly 100 pages long. The proposal responding to this RFP would be in excess of 150 pages. Its preparation effort required input from workgroup members scattered from San Diego to Charlotte.Up to this point the company had done many long, detailed proposals. Their products were complex and involved technology components, civil works (concrete, drilling, boring), and network infrastructure, each of which had to be spelled out in detail. The proposal development method was "blunt" (I'll say blunt ra

    Avoid planning at all costs

Continue to be reactive and do things on the spur of the moment. Don’t write a list of things to do each day and definitely do not use a diary to plan out what you will do. This will ensure you have no time and no life.

Eat whatever you want to and don’t exercise

Being unfit and overweight will ensure you’ll feel tired and look awful. You’ll also be susceptible to sickness. A great way to ensure you won’t be able to cope with the pressures of your personal and professional life.

Spend most of your waking hours at work

Start work early and stay late. This will sap you of energy and creativity. A surefire way to have unsatisfactory personal relationships. Next time you’re in a social situation outside of work you won’t have anything else to talk about except work, work, work. In fact people will avoid you because you’re boring!

    Avoid looking after your clients/customers

Ignore them unless they contact you. The fact that without them you wouldn’t be in business won’t matter. Do your utmost to not deliver on your promises, avoid following them up or returning their calls. After all you’re a multi-millionaire and it wouldn’t matter to you if there was no one to purchase your goods and services…you can retire whenever you like.

    Procrastinate at all costs

Avoid making decisions and taking action. This will frustrate your people and they’ll keep their ideas to help you and the business to themselves because they know
