What happens when we bury life with the dead? We give up the future. We give up receiving new blessings, a vision of new horizons, and we bleed daily grief.

One of the cheerleaders was engaged to the quarterback. She kept the ring on over the months and decided against the very dream of moving to California to attend college. This had been the dream of the couple. When her fianc?’s father finally came to terms with his son’s death, he realized she was staying out of loyalty for him. Investing Psychology
Let me share an inspirational story with you, a metaphor which was the catalyst of my personal growth financially and my very own paradigm shift.Busy working or being financially productive!Once upon a time a very strong woodcutter asked for a job in a timber mill, and he got it. The pay was really good and so were the work conditions. For that reason, the woodcutter was determined to do his best. His boss gave him an axe and showed him the area where he was s
Thirty-six years ago, Marshall University varsity football team suffered a blow affecting the college and their community. Returning from an away game on their first airplane trip, the plane went down in the forest at the edge of the runway killing 76 players, coaches, and boosters. No one survived.

This tragedy made its way to the movie screen in 2006. The movie is unlike many representations created by Hollywood. The producers, director and actors worked hard to accurately portray the events as a community suffered a loss, which seemed too much to ever recover from.

A young, unknown coach from Ohio watched the events unfold while the MU college president tried to secure a new coach. The College Board nearly abandoned the program, had it not been for a young varsity player, named Ruffin, who gathered students to remind them that they wanted to rebuild the program. Ruffin was not on the plane due to an injury which kept him from the game.

Refusal after refusal for the coaching position was returned to President Dendnon, until he received a call from Jack Lengyel from Ohio. Lengyel convinced the college president that he could do the job. He arrived to discover that he had to rebuild a team with only 4 varsity players remaining and freshman players ineligible due to NCAA rules.

The story carries us through the grief process of parents, townsmen, students, wives, cheerleaders, and the survivor’s guilt of assistant coach Red Dawson. Lengyel was the coach from the outside, who lit the beacon of hope but not without resistance.

Scheduled to play their first home game, Lengyel was going out on the field with a team, made up of mostly out of town freshmen recruits. They had no history or memories of loss with the community, except for the 3 remaining varsity who stayed on the team. Lengyvel took them all out to the memorial in the cemetery and brought them to a memory of six graves unmarked since they could not identify the bodies. He paid tribute to the memory of the team that had played on the field only the year before. And then he ended his speech with, “The funerals are over, we have to begin on the future.

I’ve watched that scene several times in trailers promoting the movie. Each time it has made a deeper mark on my vision of recovering from grief and loss. The town and the college directors were so wounded they wanted to turn from the reminders of what had been and to bury the memories along with the football program.

    Leading Talented Minorities
One obstacle to naval diversity is retention of talented minorities. It takes 15-20 years to grow senior naval leadership. When we consider diversity, it’s important to think about recruiting the right people but more importantly, we must consider how to keep individuals who are setting the example from leadership positions within the Navy. "We need more minority leaders to grow and develop into positions of leadership; for they serve as examples of members of our diverse c
