Yogic Powers - Part II - Bhagavan Ramana Maharishi
The sage of Thiruvannamalai, India the great saint Ramana Maharishi has never revealed His true powers. But yet devotees were aware of His greatness. At the time of His death the devotees got the firm confirmation that verily He is a great saint...The ancient Hindu looked upon the Nakshatras (meaning Stars) as the abodes of the Gods. The Taittiriya Brahmana (I.5.2.5) declares that “Devaktahaha vai nakshatrani”.The Satapatha Brahmana also declares that the “stars are the lights of religious men”.The great rishis believed that one day they themselves would pass on to one of the heavenly luminaries. In this context let us see what had happened at the moment Ramana left his body.In 1949 a small nodule appeared below the elbow of his left arm. This was cut. But within a month it returned and it was recognized as a tumour.Aruthur Osbo
Most people are born with two functioning ears to listen with, but sadly, not many actively engage their God-given hearing devices. For those trying to communicate something, it can be frustrating when the other person does not acknowledge they heard you! Don’t be like those that frustrate others. Learn to listen.

Are you a good listener? Everyone considers me an excellent listener. I have always brushed off their compliments so I don’t get all puffed up with pride. But seriously, why exactly do they think I’m a good listener? I queried some of my colleagues, friends and family to find out what they had to say about what makes a good listener:

      • A good listener always listens before they jump in to respond.

      • A good listener is one who listens to you without critical judgment, supports you when you need it, and gently guides your thinking toward the right path when you're obviously on the wrong path.

      • A good listener doesn’t talk over you or interrupt when someone else is talking.
      • Listening is a more than a sensory function it’s a critical and highly valuable skill. Good listening can improve a tense work environment, a rocky personal relationship and as you read above, it can also steer a person back on track. It’s a universal skill, one can develop if they choose to, which can bring about wonderful benefits in either the professional or personal life.

Why is listening important? You show respect and honor to a person when you’re listening. It also demonstrates you think what they’re saying is important. You may be validating the person by listening to them. Did you ever think you may be building someone’s self-confidence by listening? You could be. Listening is also beneficial for building a credible reputation. The more you listen, the more others will listen to what you have to say. When someone listens as you speak, you feel accepted, important, valued, and understood. Who would not want to feel those things? Those are just a few reasons why listening is important.

What listening is not. First off, listening is not about you. That can be a difficult concept for some self-absorbed folks. You know who I’m talking about too. The ones who love to talk and often times fail to listen because they’re so busy trying to get their point across. It’s difficult to be around folks like that. So avoid being like them.

What is listening? Listening is all about the other person. It is about calming your thoughts and focusing your whole attention on the one who’s speaking, rather than thinking about how you’re going to respond. Remember, you can’t listen if your mind is busy trying to figure out what you plan to say next. Giving your full and undivided attention demonstrates your willingness to listen. Stop and think about conversations you’ve had in the past. Who seemed the most interested in what you said? What was it about them that caused you to think they were interested? Try implementing some of those things in your conversations.

What Makes a Web Designer a Professional?
Many people end up hiring either a friend or relative to get their web site done. Maybe it will be free, maybe you will get a discount. Either way, if your friend is a professional, it can be a great deal. If they are not (and sometimes even if they are), it may end up being more hassle than it is worth. There is some blurry line out there that distinguishes professionals from amateurs. Not only is this line blurry, but it's somewhat different for each person. I might consider someone an amateur, but you might consider them a professional. The position of that line is based primarily on two things: Level of skills and level of conduct. Someone can be much stronger in one than another and still be considered a professional by many.Let's talk about two mythical web designers. Joe and Suzy Web design web pages for people. Apple Inc - A Case Study In Innovation - Part 1
Think about Apple computers, and one cannot but be baffled by its riches to rags to riches story. This company epitomizes what innovation and re-invention is all about. At a quick glance, Apple seems to have adapted and learnt to fly with the winds of change. But there is more to this success than just adapting to change. The Setting In the early 2000's, the company was ignored by mainstream. For a long time, the doomsday predictors seemed right. The company stock had hit the pits and any hope was found only in the devout, cult following they had for their computer products, many of whom frequented the annual MacWorld show. A cult following is a great thing to have but not enough to have the wide appeal to have sustained growth. This was right about the time that digital media was gaining ground in the "underground". Everything from digital pictures,

The Home Buyers' Guide To Understanding Mortgages In Amsterdam New York
Mortgages are not one-size-fits-all propositions. You truly need to do your homework before signing a major contract. If you bite off more than you can chew, you may lose your good credit status, as well as your home. One of the first steps you can take is to audit your finances. Know what you can afford. If you’re a little unsure about how to go about mapping out your finances, go to several mortgage websites. More often than not, there will be a free mortgage calculator available for people like you.Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s begin the home buyers’ guide.Home buyers’ guide tip #1: Decide between a fixed rate and an adjustable rate mortgageIf you’re interested in a fixed rate mortgage, you do not like surprises. The interest rates never change and neither do the monthly payments. Typically, the fixed rate mortgage can be purchased at eith

                • Don’t fold your arms in front of you, because that indicates you’re not open to the ideas being discussed.

                • Using direct eye contact with the speaker signals interest also. Look the speaker in the eye. However, if that’s uncomfortable for you, try looking at their forehead instead. The speaker will sense you looking at them, but they won’t know you’re looking at their forehead. This works for the speaker as well.

                • Tilting your head to one side or the other also demonstrates your focusing on what’s being discussed.

Another way to show you are truly listening is to use interjections. Try saying “hmm”, “uh ha”, “I see what you mean” or “I can relate” type of statements. Asking questions, at the appropriate time, also shows interest. Paraphrasing is a technique that works well too. Have you ever had someone paraphrase something you’ve said? It’s an easy way to show you’re listening because you actually take what you heard and put it into your own words and say it back to the person you heard it from. When these techniques are used it’s a great way to offer assurance that you are, in fact, listening.

On the other hand, when you're the presenter it’s fairly easy to know when you’ve lost your audience. Have you ever experienced your audience not saying a thing, not looking at you, being busy doing emails on their computer during the meeting, or sleeping while you’re talking? That’s a pretty good clue they are not really listening to you. Keep that in mind, so you don't send the wrong signals.

But what if I’m not really interested? We’ve all ran across the scenario when we have to listen to a not so interesting topic. Unfortunately, it’s part of life sometimes. That doesn’t mean we should be rude and not listen. It just means we need to try harder to focus on listening. When you find yourself in a situation like this, there are a few tricks to help you through it.

                • Remember, when we listen we show respect. Every human being deserves respect. We may not agree with everything they say, but we can still show respect through listening.

                • Try putting yourself in the other person’s place. See the situation from their perspective. You’d probably know the subject matter may be dull. How you like it if your audience fell asleep while you talked? My mother always said “Treat others as you would want to be treated.” Not bad advice.

                • Take notes if appropriate for the situation and you feel sleepy. Taking notes is a great way to demonstrate interest and it’s also a great way to stay awake through a boring presentation. It encourages your brain to focus on what’s being said, even when you may not find the material interesting. You’re notes may turn out to be a valuable resource to others as well. I know mine have!

Okay let’s review what we’ve learned so far. Listening is a critical and highly valuable skill. Listening is not about you, it’s about the other person. Listening demonstrates respect for others. You can
