    Textile-Portal-An introduction
Textile Portal is a marketplace for the common meeting point of Buyers and Suppliers of Textile products and services. It follows the same concept of the traditional market places which are set up for buyers and sellers even today. For e.g.: We visit various markets like vegetable market, fish market, cloth market. Almost always we can see tha

    Is The Customer Always Right?
I am pretty sure I have listened to and read at least 2,000 to 3,000 books and videos on selling, how to sell and customer service and one theme that I have found has been - The Customer Is Always Right? This is the biggest load of rubbish I have ever heard. If you take on this philosophy, from my experience, you will go broke let me ex
I had recently attended a seminar in which the speaker talked about the danger of trying to “motivate” someone. At first, I could not see his point. I was taught that leaders always “motivate” and that’s how you get the most out of your people resources.

I looked it up in the dictionary and found that the definition did not match my reality. Hmmm, definition says “to provide with, or affect as, a motive, incite.” Now I really was confused and looked up the last word incite. “To urge to action” Now that was more like it. To urge to action! Onward and upward! Full speed ahead! Damn the torpedoes! Lead, follow or get out of the way! And all kinds of expressions that I have heard over the years to “motivate” me. (USMC Drill Instructors have a whole bushel basket full of motivating language)

However, the real definition is “to provide with” which really means that the action you take after being “provided with” is yours and yours alone.

If you are looking to “motivate” your people resources, perhaps they would be better served if you “cheerlead” instead.

Here is the difference. If you have motivated correctly, that is “provided with” your people will have all that they need to accomplish the job. That includes training, coaching, mentoring, observing and providing guidance and even rewarding. You have completely given everything that you had to offer in order for that person to be completely successful in their endeavors for you and your company. You have motivated.

Getting Started As A Real Estate Investor
For most of us, the issue is getting started. How do I start? Where do I start? And so forth.I know from my own personal experience years ago, just how intimidating it is to embark on a career change. I first became interested in real estate way back in the mid 1980's. I knew I wanted to increase my earning potential, and have a busi

How to Walk the Floor and Talk to Customers
This may seem a strange topic to introduce. Yet, it is the most under-used skill by many retail managers, but one of the most important roles in their supervision.1. You Are the Maitre of Your BusinessYour role is take that of a maitre d’hotel. You should meet your guests (customers), welcome them and ensure they leave with a pos

Management Or Labor - Which Will It Be
I once coined a phrase or saying that goes something like this: Every engineer should get his or her start in Arkansas as I did, cutting chicken necks. In that manner your peers will always marvel at how far you've come - or understand why you achieved so little. Dad once told me he was working on one of his old cars and had the car j
ce and even rewarding. You have completely given everything that you had to offer in order for that person to be completely successful in their endeavors for you and your company. You have motivated.

Now you can only cheerlead. “Yaay Team!” Words of encouragement and small course corrections are needed, not “motivational” language. You cannot “motivate” anyone to do anything. You can only provide the materials for them to use, provide the training to use the materials, coach them to use the materials, observe them using the materials and help them make changes. The actual use of the materials is up to the person who has them in their hand. If they do not use whatever you have given them, you cannot “motivate” them to do so.

Oh, sure, they will make token attempts, maybe join in the singing of the company fight song, engage in cursory application of the whatever material has been given to them, however, their heart will never be in it. And therein lays the problem.

They have to completely “get it” to well, get it. It must be of value and importance to them, or it’s no more important than an empty can lying in the street or newspaper in the recycling bin.

So, if you are “motivating” your people, perhaps you might want to take a look at your staff and see if you really need to motivate. Maybe, just maybe, you might need to cheerlead instead. And pay close attention to the four letters of that word.

    Lead.
