I’ve heard people say that there is nothing in God’s Word telling us we can live a long life, so that prompted this study. Although, this is not a comprehensive study, it shows God’s desire for man. The Word tells us let everything be established by 2 or 3 witnesses, and there is enough evidence provided here to satisfy that criteria. Obedience is always the key to inheriting the blessings of God. On the other hand, disobedience will cause the Word not to bear fruit in our life. You can see by these scriptures that we have to do what the Lord tells us to do through His Word in order to receive the blessing of long life. The same is also true for all of the blessings of God.

After we put the Word of God first in our lives we have the privilege to receive the promises. We can give God the glory for it. Put God’s Word first in your life and enjoy many days on the earth.

Psalms 91:15. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. 16. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.

God wants to give us good thing and then He goes on to tell us how to receive them in verse 12. Do good things to others, don’t return evil for evil, return good for evil. This may sound like foolishness to the world, but God’s thoughts are higher than our thoughts, and his ways are higher than our ways. Let’s go back and look at 1st Peter, we see that if we want to see good days we have to refrain our tongue from evil, but if we back up a bit in vs.8 and 9. We see how we are supposed to act towards one another. 8. Finally, be ye all of one mind, having compassion one of another, love as brethren, be pitiful, be courteous: 9. Not rendering evil for evil, or railing for railing: but contrariwise blessing; knowing that ye are thereunto called, that ye should inherit a blessing. Then it goes on to say, FOR he that will love life, and see good days, let him refrain his tongue from evil, and his lips that they speak no guile: God lays it all out for us, and even gives us instructions on how to accomplish His promises. Bless others, pray for others, be compassionate to one another, we are called to inherit a blessing, life is a blessing. For he that will love life, and see good days. Good days are a blessing from God. Let us refrain our tongue from evil. The Word tells us that life and death are in the power of the tongue.
