Will Lawyers Sue Ford Motor Company on behalf of Shareholders if They Go Private?
We may see some interesting type lawsuits and new case law develop in the very near future as Ford Motor Company’s stock drops. Why you ask? Well it appears Ford Motor Company is going to go private, but in doing so some might say that it is purposefully finding things to do in order to lower its stock price prior to going private. Will those shareholders who have lost money due to the fast stock price drop sue? Will some lawyer try to file that class-action case against Ford Motor Company? This will be an interesting class-action lawsuit in that they are damned if they do and damned if they don’t and this could prevent future companies from attempting to go private. More and more companies are considering this due to the massive over regulation of the SEC Securities Exchange Commission and the incredible class-action lawsuits from groups of minority investors.Would such a suit hold water? No, probably not really because all the US Automakers are having troubles. Even DaimlerChrysler is attempting to hold their head up high as they manuerver thru

Operational strategy in this post is not what most businesspeople would necessarily think. So it will be important that you know what I mean by operational strategy. Operational strategy begins with defining your business in terms of the present opportunity in relation to the customer and product of the business. It then means, creating a development process by which the business will come to operate in such a way that it takes advantage of key leverage points found within operations; these points are found within the abovementioned definitions. In this post, I will simply focus on helping you find those key leverage points because these points are critical to the long-term success of any business.

Defining the need is nothing special. This is simply creating a customer profile that is true and accurate. Of course, a startup company may not have all the wonderful information that an established organization may have, but the least one can do is use some common sense, some good market research if necessary, and understand the importance of the need base so that when the business gets going, it can adjust if appropriate.

Workflow Management Software: Businesses are Getting into the Flow
Ah, the ebb and flow of work. Sometimes it seems like there is much more ebbing than flowing with all of the workflow, the deadlines, the projects and presentations, but overall the tide seems to constantly be flowing in and out, in and out, in and . . . sorry. Recently a friend returned from a cruise in the Bahamas and commented that he still felt that he was ebbing and flowing as if he were still on water. Many times I have felt the same way after a long day of incoming projects and outgoing reports. But I am not alone. Recent business studies have shown an increasing need for some kind of workflow management software to enable more efficient workflow management.Overall, most of the daily business activities include collaboration with committees, departments, that board, or this client, in order to bring everyone onto the same page. Though collaboration is the most effective way to enable workflow, the challenge is finding workflow management software that enables effective workflow.Drafts of budgets, sales reports, market presentations, and m

    Challenges Facing Hiring Managers
After working with and learning from some of the most successful companies in the world for over 20 years, About Recruiting Inc. has seen several challenges facing hiring managers and those people on the interviewing team: Most companies lack a formal sourcing strategy and end up hiring the "best of the bunch" rather than THE BEST. In a robust economy or tight labour market, it is commonly assumed that the best people are working. In other words, they are passive candidates that need to be located. The wording in typical job descriptions limits the number of qualified people who will apply for the position. Rather than looking at what people are exceptional at, abilities and talents that are instinctive, many companies make their hiring decisions based on what people have learned, acquired and experienced to date.  Most companies only list the “necessary” skills, experience and knowledge required without appealing to the real reasons top talent accept new offers. Too many companies errone

Plastic Corrugated Returnable Packaging: Simple Packaging Product Helps Save Your Company Money
Most manufacturing professionals have read them at some point or another: those articles in business magazines relating the stories of how executives at big companies help saved their company millions by making strategic changes here and there. And if you are like most professionals, you have probably wondered how you could translate those seemingly too-good-to-be-true stories into something that could truly impact your business. There are plenty of opportunities out there that could help save your company money. The trouble is learning how to recognize those opportunities when they present themselves. For example, most manufacturers spend the majority of their time developing and creating new products, so cost-saving ideas in behind-the-scenes areas, like packaging, are often overlooked. However, in recent years the packaging industry has made great technological advances, and today there are products available that are specifically designed to save manufacturers significant resources. One such product is plastic corrugated, a durable material de

    Spreading Like Wildfire
Home based businesses have become widely accepted all over the world and are spreading like wildfire. They have become the most desirable businesses for a number of reasons. Imagine how it would feel to get up at your own sweet time and not hurry to office in the regular chaos of snarling traffic all the while getting choked on pollution. And then, to begin the day as though you are fresh from home and nothing has happened. Listen to the Boss ordering you around and giving you the grind for deadlines. If you are willing to do that extra bit of work or travel that extra mile for your boss, I am sure you are more than willing to do so for yourself, especially if you feel that it would improve the quality of life for you and your family. It involves hard work but of the kind you would want to do. It is not hard work when you are doing what you always wanted. A little bit of inspiration could get you off the mark, wouldn't it?1.You will be your own boss with no one looking over your shoulder. Most of us have already done this. We have an intuitive sense of the needs and the product or service which will fill the need. It’s just important to make sure that you’re senses are correct. This defining the needs and product or service in addition to the key operational aspects of the business lays the groundwork for operational strategy. Since for many entrepreneurs, this is pretty straight-forward, I’m not going to say anything more about it; rather, the process may be inferred from the next step which is determining which aspects of a business are the leverage points and then creating a business which operates upon those leverages.

Let’s give an example of this now for the tutoring service industry where I’ll go into a little more detail than I will for examples that will follow:

For the tutoring service, 50 percent of the business will depend on advertising and promotion. Fifty Percent! This is compared to some mom and pop store that do zero percent promotion and rely entirely on word-of mouth. Fifty-percent is referral business. This is defining the
