Actual for You - Boomerang Customers- What You Might NOT Think Brings Them Back!
Deploying Your Frontline For Customer Research in the store at the time and I noticed that there was only one employee behind the counter doing what looked to be "busy work".
With an over saturation of purchase options, coupled with the fact that consumers today are more sophisticated and educated than they were a few years ago, it is absolutely imperative that companies are connected at their customer’s hip in terms of understanding their wants, needs and expectations.Consumers continue to demand much more, are more impulsive and less patient than in the past, and are much more sensitive to disparities in service. This, among other factors explains why the rate of customer defection is increasing.A study by MOHR Learning, a New Jersey based consulting firm, found that 20% of customers will immediately walk out of a store when confronted by bad service and 26% will warn their friends and family members not to shop there.Obtaining Customer Insight: To succeed today you must become both customer-focused and customer-centered. Market leaders possess foresight and vision that begins with the customer. If you’re to achieve your business goals both now and into the future, you must be able to clearly see and anticipate significant trends and shifts in customer behavior, and extract meaning for future business practice. If you haven’t done so at this point, then you must begin the journey in obtaining superior knowledge on your customer’s needs, wants, and expectations. You want to determine the type of shopping experience your customers desire. And the type of shopping experiences will vary in direct proportion to the different types of customers you have. The role of your frontline employees in identifying your customers and effectively interacting with them has become more critical. Why spend a boat-load of money on some consulting or market research firm to come into your business to communicate with your customers about what they want and don’t want, when you have already made that same type of investment via the labor line on your P&L: employees!Companies today need to generate a better return on their employee investment than simply just having them show up f As she looked up she said, "Oh, don't you love this Barbie stuff?" Well, it was rather obvious. That was the end of the discussion. The conversation converted to what I call "parrot" talk. Do you have a "---------mark card?" Will that be cash or charge? Do you want the receipt with you or in the bag? Have a Home Office Living - Before, During, and After You Move In With all of the calendars and PDA's and lists I make I recently did a really dumb thing. I forgot my best friend's birthday and her anniversary. Both special days are back to back and I forgot both of them. After being friends for twenty years I feel old and stupid!
Working the cube farm has been a disaster for worker productivity for years and you are finally fed up. Your company has offered you an opportunity to work from home. So finally, the home office is born. The choice of the location of your home office is crucial to your success. Too close to the activities going on and you get distracted. Too far away, and you become stranded on an island. Another concern is the “7-Eleven” effect, in other words, you are always open for business and in a very short time you find yourself exhausted. But there are ways to manage these issues in order to make your home office experience a success. Now the home office is more of a focus in the design process, make this space worth living. Make it comfortable, but not too comfortable. Make it warm and inviting, but not a play room for the kids. Make it a place to work, but also a place to live. Confused? Don’t be because this is your space to with as you wish. Just keep in mind your particular situation and plan accordingly.Maybe converting your attic for use as a home office is a wonderful idea. Maybe working in the corner of a bedroom works. Whatever your space allocation is having a true home office is a great way to keep your overhead low since you are already paying for the space and the real hidden value of a home office is that it doesn't have to look like a corporate office with a huge oak desk and wall-to-wall filing cabinets. And even though your children will disagree, your home office is not somewhere they should be playing. Finding space for a home office is a major concern these days.Once you have found your space, you should hopefully find that working from a home office is interesting, varied and provides an opportunity to deliver results that will make a real difference to your life. It won’t be difficult to work if you have a well-organized, fully equipped home office and you have organized well and are comfortable. But the key to a well run home office and a satisfied worker is this: create a work schedule just It could have been that I was packing my last child to go off to college and the constant comments like," You're going to be empty nesters", like I was a big, fat robin, were starting to wear very thin. Even having my youngest leave home was not enough of an excuse to miss two important days in my best friend's life. So what did I do the minute I realized my mistake? I went shopping! I drove to my local card shop in the strip center by my home because I knew that not only could I use my special coupon that I had, but that I probably could find something unique there. Just as I thought, as soon as I walked in I saw a display of "retro" Barbie items. Not a big deal to you, but a big deal to me and I know, my best friend. You see, we grew up in that era and for a short time, I was time warped back to the sixties! I bought an armful of things! A special Christmas ornament, a photo album, a special gift bag, a card and a picture frame! I would have bought more but I was starting to feel a little less guilty at this point! I could just imagine her face when she opens the package. She and I both love "girly" things and this was the epitome of "girly"! I was so excited about these things that I decided right there in the store I needed to mail the package overnight so I could hear how much she loved each item! As I carried all of my special "finds" throughout the store, I picked up an anniversary card and made my way to the counter. I was the only customer in the store at the time and I noticed that there was only one employee behind the counter doing what looked to be "busy work". Have a Collection Agencies; Not Just for Big Business , were starting to wear very thin. Even having my youngest leave home was not enough of an excuse to miss two important days in my best friend's life.
One of the reasons small businesses write off a great deal of loss is that they don't realize how easy and affordably it can be to hire collection agencies to recover bad debt. Developing a success-driven mindset and taking action like your larger competitors is the first step to growing your business. Many of today's collection agencies are small business friendly and can improve your company's bottom line drastically with smart solutions for collecting bad debt.Look for collection agencies that offer several collection tier levels Small businesses often don't utilize collection agencies like their larger competitors because they feel the debt owed may be insignificant to large collection agencies. Small businesses should look for collection agencies that offer different collection amount tiers. Debts as low as $1000, regardless of the size of the contacting business can be easily recovered by collection agencies.Verify that the collection agency uses legal collection methods The days of collection agencies harassing friends and family and calling late at night in an attempt to collect unpaid debt is long gone. To comply with today's regulations, collection agencies must adhere to strict laws that require them to use more brains than brawn in an attempt to collect debt. Check to make sure that the collection agencies you're considering belong to either the International Association of Commercial Collectors or the American Collector's Association. Admittance to either requires that collection agencies adhere to the legal standards and ethics of third party collection agencies.Collecting the debt yourself verses contracting a collection agency First party collectors (i.e. business owners) are not bound by the same set of federal regulations when it comes to collecting debt. However, attempting to collect debt if not handled properly can result in poor client relations at best and a hefty fine at worst. A systematic, proactive first party collection approach works well for the first 30-60 days of delinqu So what did I do the minute I realized my mistake? I went shopping! IntroductionMost businesses have rules that define and implement policies, whether they relate to internal operations or to the products and services they offer to their customers. Often these rules define the strategy of the business and determine its success or failure. Adjustments to the strategy typically mean changes to business rules. The problem is this—these days business rules are implemented in software, and everyone knows that software changes don’t happen quickly. Business rules engines (BRE) expedite rapid changes in business rules within enterprise software. The Business Rules BottleneckFor years enterprise architecture has separated systems into three tiers—a presentation tier, a flow control or application tier, and the data validation tier. Business logic is usually embedded across all three tiers. When policy makers decide to change direction, often database routines must change, application server enterprise software may require adjustment, and user interface options will have to be altered. The entire IT infrastructure is affected. To bridge the gulf between IT and policy makers, business analysts are often charged with creating detailed requirements and other documents which coders use to implement the business requirements in software. This translation of business logic into code creates a bottleneck for change and slows responsiveness to developing business needs and priorities. The RBE SolutionThe central principle of business rules management systems (BRMS) is to extract the embedded business logic from the multiple tiers of enterprise applications and to centralize it into a set of rules that can be easily monitored, controlled, and altered by business analysts. Control of business rules and logic is thereby placed in the hands of the business professionals who know them. A business rules engine can be thought of as a fourth tier in enterprise applications, the tier that houses the rules of the business. Rules are written as declarative statements in plain English, typically a As I carried all of my special "finds" throughout the store, I picked up an anniversary card and made my way to the counter. One Trend to Pay Attention to in 2005 in the store at the time and I noticed that there was only one employee behind the counter doing what looked to be "busy work".
Upper Saddle River, N.J. - January 10, 2005 - With the start of the year, a flurry of articles have appeared, talking about what we can expect in the way of business trends during 2005. One of the most alarming issues is the intention of many employees to seek new jobs now that the economy is starting to improve. A recent joint survey by Society for Human Resources Management (SHRM) and CareerJournal.com indicated that 75% of the employees polled said they would like a different job; 43% want to increase their compensation. Similarly, a recent survey by Monster.com indicated “93% of the respondents plan to job hop.”Many companies have taken credit for the lower level of voluntary turnover that they have enjoyed during the last few years. Although some improvements in turnover are based on positive actions that companies have taken, others appear to be strictly related to the fear of employees to look for other jobs when our economy is limping along. We believe that the old adage, “the devil I know is better than the devil I don’t know”, is a major influence in why employees have stayed where they are for the time being. If the surveys are a realistic indication of what we can expect, the question arises: what should companies do now to thwart a big increase in turnover of trained employees seeking better opportunities? Our experience has shown that there are five (5) key steps that a company can take to generate positive results. These steps are:1. Clarify the Compensation Philosophy – What is the labor market that the company needs to compete against for qualified employees? What is the level that the company should pay against that market? What is the best mix of pay elements for their employees? Is the pay program consistent with its Business Plan and Marketing Strategy? Addressing these questions will help the company establish a baseline against which to benchmark pay and pay practices, and establishes the company’s commitment to its compensation programs.2. Review the Procedures for Determi As she looked up she said, "Oh, don't you love this Barbie stuff?" Well, it was rather obvious. That was the end of the discussion. The conversation converted to what I call "parrot" talk. Do you have a "---------mark card?" Will that be cash or charge? Do you want the receipt with you or in the bag? Have a nice evening. It was a simple $50 sale that had so much more potential. The average sale in a card store is between $8 and $14 so maybe that sale wasn't so average. Maybe she thought I had purchased everything I wanted. So what would make me return to that store? Why would I tell my best friend about the selection? Where else could I buy the same merchandise? When will companies learn the simple technique to bring customers back? And how can they improve those simple communication skills. I call this the Win-Win "W" words! Simple words that create open-ended questions that the customer can't say "no" to but that also help to build a conversation! Employees should try to build a conversation with a customer in which each of the sentences they use begin with a "w" word; who, what, where, when, why and a non-"w" word, how. The questions can be developed into either a service approach or a merchandise approach. Here are examples: The Service approach: What brings you in today? Who is celebrating an anniversary? When is the big occasion? Where will the wedding be? How are you planning to wrap this?
The Merchandise approach: What type of frame will match their decorating style? Who likes these fabulous scented candles? When will you need these invitations for? Where will you be sending this Precious Moments keepsake figurine? How about buying a second charm to giv
