I had a lot of years of failure in network marketing (17, but who's counting?) before ever having success. And that first success (1993) was somewhat accidental. But all of a sudden, I found the Mother Lode of MLM prospects.

Well, that's not entirely true. Actually, they found me. They called me, they wrote me (1993 was before email, remember?), they actually even travelled from many different parts of the U.S. to visit me, much to my astonishment.

Hey! In 1993, I was a bus driver in Miami. My only business background was years and years and years of failure at anything I had ever tried.

Back about 1989, I picked up (free) an audiotape on MLM by Dayle Maloney. Very personable, knowledgeable guy. I bonded with him, listening to that audio. And in that audio, Dayle said one thing I never forgot:

"If you ever want to be big in MLM, you have to record your own audiotape."

I don't know if it was the way Dayle said it or the way I listened. But I took it as gospel. I had no intention of ever doing MLM again, but if I did, I'd have to do an audiotape.

Then in 1993, the opportunity presented itself. I did a bunch of research, wrote a script, went into a studio and recorded it. Gave it a snappy title ("Tomato Warning!") and ran a classified ad.

People ordered.

But way more than that, just as I had bonded with Dayle Maloney on audiotape, my tape buyers bonded with me. After listening to me for 90 minutes, they'd call me up and talk to me like I was an old friend.

I couldn't understand it at first, because my personality isn't anything to write home about. I can hold up a conversation, so long as you do most of the talking, but there are a gazillion people who can do that.

But they kept calling. And then they wrote me. And then they started coming to visit me.

Once I figured it out, I scripted and recorded a bunch of tapes designed to give valuable information and to create relationships. It worked like crazy.

But that was the '90s, another lifetime. Today is the internet age.

Yes, there are also online audio and video at your fingertips these days. That's pretty high-tech stuff for me. Besides, I know the truth: if you just write a bit each day, then Leaders will find you. It will start slowly, like anything good does. Have faith. You are doing the right thing.

You can have a successful MLM prospecting system just by writing on a daily basis. And if you do just the most basic promotion, good people will find you and bond with you and join you. And then you'll be in a position to help them build a great income by doing exactly what you have already done successfully.
