    When you invest in promotional items, you have a goal in mind. It may be to increase your market visibility, or to increase your sales, or to prospect for new customers. They may be meant as a thank you or an enticement, or more commonly, as both. No matter the reason that you choose to give promotional gifts to your customers or prospective customers, it’s important to choose items and gifts that reach your target market.     If you have political ambitions or would like to work in Washington, DC and travel around the world and if you speak a foreign language then you might consider a career with the State Department. They are always hiring new people to travel around the world and represent the United States of America in foreign lands. Now more than ever it is important for our nation to be on good terms with other countries around the world.This might be a good opportunity to travel to far off lands and get paid very well with good benefits. Not all government jobs are probably at the top of your list however a career with the State Department can be very rewarding and fulfilling.     Michelle Obama Delivers Address on Community Relations at Best Bosses Conference
    The culmination of the 2006 Best Bosses Conference & Celebration, held September 27, 2006 in Chicago, was a Plenary Address delivered by Michelle Obama. Obama is Vice President for Community and External Affairs at the University of Chicago Hospitals. Her topic was “Creating Relationships Between Business and Community.”Obama was selected by former Hospitals President and CEO Michael Riordan to head the organization’s Office of Community Affairs, and lead the Hospitals’ efforts to broaden its relationship with its neighborhood – Chicago’s South Side – and the city at large. As Obama said, her previous experience at the university (she was associate dean of students and later executive director for community affairs at the Hospitals) and that fact that she is a native South Sider gives her a “unique perspective of being both an insider and an outsider” to her employer.In explaining why businesses and nonprofits alike should look at building a community relations program, Obama stressed that these types of programs are becoming more common in the U.S., with approximately 90 percent of large domestic companies investing some time, resources and funds in efforts to better relate to their communities. She also stressed that such efforts should make good business sense in addition to fulfilling the notion of being a good neighbor. This speaks to programmatic sustainability and the extent to which programs are line items in the budget. “When times are lean, when budgets are tight,” Obama said, “community relations activities are the first to go.”The benefits for organizations that institute community relations programs include increased market visibility, strengthened brand value and enhanced reputations as good corporate citizens.     Step Six to Building Your Profitable Tax Lien Portfolio
    This is the seventh article in a series of eight articles about how to build a profitable portfolio of tax lien certificates or tax deeds. If you missed the previous articles in this series, you can read them at www.taxlienconsulting.blogspot.com.OK, so you've got the tax sale list and you've done your due diligence and you've made your preparations to go to the tax sale. You've registered for the sale, you have your paperwork in order and you've made arrangements to have the proper form of payment at the sale. Since most tax sales are auctions, the next step to building your profitable tax lien portfolio is to bid at the sale.Before you bid at a tax sale you need to know what the bidding procedure is and what your strategy will be. You'll have to decide beforehand just how much you are willing to pay for each property that you want to bid on, or how low (in interest) you will bid. I suggest that you attend at least one tax sale before you bid so that you are aware of what is actually being bid and what the competition is like. It's important to know exactly what you are bidding.There are four basic types of bidding procedures that you will encounter at a tax sale. At tax lien sales, typically the interest is bid down, or the interest is not bid down and the price of the lien is bid up. This is referred to in the tax lien industry as "premium" or "overbid." Different states may refer to it differently and they treat it differently. In some states the amount bid is only the premium or overbid amount, and the total price of the lien will be what was bid plus the lien amount. Other states will start the bidding at the lien amount so that the bid price includes the lien amount. Some states do not bid down the interest or bid up the price of the lien. They may use another bidding process in which the percent ownership in the property (should the property be foreclosed) is bid down. In this process it is the bidder willing to receive the lowest percent ownership in the property that

Many women are making decisions to leave the corporate world to raise their families or to start their own businesses or to find something in between that allow them to balance a life of childcare and elder care at the same time, all while finding some time for themselves. A 2004 study conducted by the Center for Work-Life Policy indicated that 37% of highly qualified women leave their careers for a period of time, 58% resort to flexible or part time hours. To summarize, what are you doing to meet your career needs? What decisions are you putting off? What improvements can you make in your own career?

    Your Guide: Before I hand over the keys to career navigation, let me explain why I feel I am qualified to serve as your guide. In addition to having extensive training in Coaching with specialty training in Career and Business Coaching, I too have navigated several career changes. It is this personal experience that has helped me to help others to take control of the drive and to have a clear vision of the road. I have over 25 years of working experience, having worked a number of years in Corporate America in sales, marketing and management consulting in the information technology industry. I also took time to raise a family and became a community volunteer. I pursued a second master’s degree at age 40, worked as a psychotherapist and small business owner and then became CEO of my own coaching company and a partner Career Coach and Vice President of Marketing for a global coaching firm. What I learned most from my own experiences and professional career coaching training is that you do have choices. You get to chart your course and most importantly, you have to keep moving forward to take action on your personal and professional goals. So gas up your tank and get ready to go.

    The Keys to a Successful Ride:

    1. Give your Map a Name: Write your Mission Statement: Who are you really? What are your passions? What are your values, what motivates you and what gifts do you have that you want to share with others? What is your personal brand, those unique qualities that make up who you really are? What do you want out of your life? What do you dream of? Write your own mission statement for your life and work by knowing yourself well. If you feel stuck, try to think of what you enjoyed doing as a child, what did you want to be when you grew up? Ask your friends what they enjoy about you the most. Find your life purpose. When you do, write your mission statement for your work and your life. You will find that knowing your life purpose will help you to
