    Will You Take a Czech?
TAXI TO INVERNESS? WILL YOU TAKE A CZECH?Thus read a headline in a national newspaper earlier this week. These new taxi drivers from the Czech Republic are not only learning English, before they come to the UK, but 'The Knowledge' too, the 'bible' for taxi drivers. Are the British cabbies at home learning Czech or French or German? This is one phenomenon of the expanded EU, people moving all around Europe, working and living away from their homelands. The UK's shortage of skilled workers is acute, we won't speculate on the reasons - the fact is that many of our skilled workers have gone somewhere else. The EU is becoming more and more inter-national just like that traditional melting pot for all comers from all lands - the USA.The team
So you're really creative and looking to break through the clutter and get into advertising. Except everyone else is really creative too. So how do you get a job again?

While competition is fierce, so is the demand for great talent. And therin lies the paradox. How can there be supply and demand at the same time?

Think of it like restaurants. Everyone wants to eat really great food. Therefore, there are many many restaurants. But only a few get 4 stars, let alone five. The vast majority of restaurants are rated a one or a two. And for the most part, we all eat mediocre food.

Right On Target - Choosing Promotional Items For Your Market
When you invest in promotional items, you have a goal in mind. It may be to increase your market visibility, or to increase your sales, or to prospect for new customers. They may be meant as a thank you or an enticement, or more commonly, as both. No matter the reason that you choose to give promotional gifts to your customers or prospective customers, it’s important to choose items and gifts that reach your target market. Here are some tips on effectively choosing and using promotional gifts to get the reaction you want from the right people – those that will buy your product.1. Define your target market first. It’s impossible to hit a bulls-eye when you don’t know where you’re aiming. Before you ever start a marketing campaign, you need to s

Medical Billing - Billing The Wrong Carrier
In a previous installment of medical billing goofs, we discussed what happens when you bill the wrong item to a carrier and how you can be charged with fraud, but what happens when you send a bill to the wrong carrier. What follows is a genuine story. It's kind of funny when you read it, but the truth is, it's far from funny. This is some serious stuff.A medical billing company, we'll call them XYZ company, was sending out a claim for a patient, we'll call him John Smith, to Medicare Region A, which is in the New York area of the United States. Now in actuality, the name of the patient was a common name so there could have very well been many people with that name.Anyway, the bill makes its way to Medicare Region A and the response from

    Who Loves Statistics?
Statistics, the word almost makes me cringe as it is a reminder of all the hard work I had to do to finish my degree. I do not think that it is statistics per se but it is the fact that I had to create the numbers from formulas. In business, statistics are generated from asking the right questions and instead of doing all the calculations, the software takes over and you see the immediate results. Statistics breathe life into websites and marketing departments. Everything you do needs to be measured. You should measure each marketing campaign to find out what is working. You should measure where internet visitors come from and how they got to your site. And you should measure what pages they visited, how long they stayed, and what page they exite

Your Personal Calling Card: An Elegant Way to Keep in Touch
Businesspeople routinely hand out business cards to prospective customers, colleagues, and social acquaintances, both as a marketing technique and for an easy way to keep in touch.Possibly because of the popularity of business cards, personal calling cards, which in decades past have gone out of fashion, are also making a comeback. Rather than scribble your name and phone number or email address on a scrap of paper, why not hand new acquaintances your personal calling card?First, you need to decide on a style for your calling card. Designs range from the simply elegant to the boldly colorful; your choice should match your personality and your lifestyle. Second, you need to decide what information to include on your calling card. Traditional
same thing in the creative industry. Look at all the movies that have come out recently and hardly any of them are worth watching. Look at how bad commercials are right now. A bad economy forced creative people to leave creative jobs for more stable ones. And some just aren't coming back.

Now that the economy is heating up quickly enough to have fears of inflation, there's a severe lack of talent. I know, because I have to hire talent all the time. I went from perpetually not having a job, and questioning whether or not I wanted to stay on as a creative professional, to having more work than I know what to do with, and having a severely difficult time finding people to help me get my work done.

So you're sitting there, licking your chops, wond
